I added a new rule regarding controversial topics. I havent exactly layed out what we can and cannot discuss and what extent it can be talked about, but I think it would be helpful if it were clear.
People’s freedoms of speech is pretty important to me, and I feel like we are actually pretty blessed the community has had the opportunity to talk about the things we have. That is not common on forums. So please don’t ruin that opportunity for everyone by being argumentative and closeminded.
Debating: Please disclose either in the post or in a tag if you are open for debate on a post. Asking a question and looking for a serious and genuine debate is okay. I just ask that people be mature about it. If you start being toxic and insulting people, either take it to dms or just ignore them.
General Posts: If you just want make a statement about something controversial and not looking for a debate, be prepared for people to debate you or ask the topic to be locked. Do not get mad if someone has something to say against it. If someone starts arguing with you, take it in dms, handle it civilly, or just ignore them.
Mentions of harming/suicide: I know that this forum has become an outlet to a lot of users, so I dont want to ban the topic all together. I just ask for you to 1) not get too detailed 2) tag a trigger warning and other appropriate tags. Think twice before posting. If you think something you said might make someone uncomfortable, tone it down. Also, please post whether you are looking for help/advice or just need to vent. If you dont want people to comment, mention us to lock the topic. Mentions of harming others is strictly not allowed.
