It was under the category of user announcements, not under the actual announcement category that is used by staff members. At that point, “unnecessary” crosses into the territory of being subjective, not objective. Just because you are of the opinion that a wholesome feline topic is “unnecessary” does not mean others are. OP is well within their rights to utilise the user announcements category, as much as you and I are. I could very well make one announcing that I had an extraordinary chocolate sundae for dessert. Their “The elites attempt to censor my meows” very much qualifies as a user announcement.
