  Honestly chapters 7-12 are one of the more doable chunks of that book, so try not to panic. A few of those chapters are super short — 7, 9 and 11 are the little vignette chapters that are only a few pages each (the car salesman, the family selling their stuff, the empty farm). You can knock those out really fast.

  What helped me with this book was reading the short chapters quickly and saving my energy for the Joad chapters (8, 10 and 12), because those are the ones your teacher will actually ask about — that’s where Tom reunites with the family and they start heading west.

  Also, jot down one line per chapter as you go, like “ch 7: used car salesman rips people off”. It makes it way easier to remember everything the next day than trying to hold it all in your head. And try 25 minutes reading, 5 minutes break — five chapters is very doable in a couple of hours that way.

  You’ve got this. And seriously, get some sleep after — being exhausted makes the reading twice as hard.

  And this isn’t even over bias either, I’ve been trying to fix my HPS problems for 2 - 3 months straight while trying to pretend I’m not having this overdose of hatred within me knowing that some people only got one side.

  Once again this isn’t a “oh I’m a victim” or a “all the blames on said individual”.

  Overall: there are no victims, only VILLIANS.

  One of em just left alot of stuff out just for others to give their sympathies

  It got so bad to the point where MY FRIENDS are being HARASSED and hated on over something that’s not even related to them.

  This isn’t just “shaming the bad people” it is LITERALLY defined as DELIBERATE harassment in my opinion.

  Hating is okay but it steps out of bounds if my friends which I SHOWED EVERY PIECE OF EVIDENCE WITH SCREENSHOTS OF THE ENTIRE CHAT

  Let me remind you that as soon as my friends left bdns due to its current status, we have ALMOST GROWN people out here immorally hating on someone that’s WAY younger than them.

  What their doing isn’t “opinion-based”, it’s literally just directly gossiping about someone that can’t stand the lack of humanity bdns has.

  I’m not white knighting or being biased, this has legitimately gone WAY TOO far to the point of people just being complete jerks to others.

  So we’re just dragging my ban and saying it’s a “holiday” while also harassing someone to the point of deletion ALL BECAUSE they were bored and did smth ONCE.

  Idk how the mods haven’t dealt with it yet since this is full on TARGETING and Drama Creating.

  And it’s the same people that creates these types of harassments vro omfg, like dude I swear these people would just find ANYTHING UNDER THE SUN to completely go after me and the others.

  For the “brainwashing” part that some of them specifically talk about- NO.

  HOW can you brainwash someone IF THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU DUDE- holy shit
