'nother story but it's a bit sadder
-
A group of creatures huddled around something. The battle had ended, with the opposing side losing. But not without a cost. The barely living body of a fragile Aereis laid upon the floor, It’s pure white fur stained with the red of blood.
“Come on, we can’t lose you too!” A Euvias cried. “We’ve lost too much.”
“I knew what I signed up for,” The Aereis responded “I knew the risks and dangers that came with this battle. But I’m not done till this war is won.”
One of the Ani named Han tending to the Aereis knew that he was going to die. They all did, knowing they were about to lose another one of their friends. Soon, however, the beating of wings could be heard. All the creatures turned, and saw a Saukuryn flying at them full speed. They tensed up, ready to fight again. When they inspected closer, and realized it was a courier.
“I have a message from the council! The war has ended, Victory is ou-” He then stopped seeing the delicate body of the Aeries. Everyone turned to the Aereis, knowing what he was going to say, even if it hurt.
“So, the war is finally over, huh?” The Aereis began to laugh. “Ironic that I die as it ends.” He chuckled wryly, before he began to cough up blood. He looked to all the creatures surrounding him, seeing that they were crying.
He smiled, and said, “Don’t be sad. It’s life. We have its highs and lows, and its beginning and ends. Everything will live, just as everything will die. Heh, but with the war finally over, I’m free…” His heavy breathing slowed down, before coming to a halt. With his life having reached its end, his friends carried him to the top of the highest mountain, and laying his body there.
“May the spirits of the Wind guide you to the heavens.”
“May they take you up, and may you hunt forever in the fertile fields of Paradise.”
“May you find peace and harmony in the skies above forever.”
“A mentor…”
“A warrior…”
“A protector…”
“A leader…”
“…A friend.”
The Ura gave the signal, and the Sochuri lit the pyre.
“May we meet once more in the skies of Paradise.”
in tribute to a friend, may he rest in peace. <3
