@KayaRoseWho Just a genuine question since I’ve had an administrator job for a long while on discord and I also am a manager at work. Why exactly is your settings not able to message you? If people can’t dm you for anything how are you able to solve an issue if there is one.

kailovesu because, certain people like to message me. I can not say who but i have been having issues with people and they like to dm me and start stuff. if people wants to talk to me they can just ask me under a post and ask me to dm them… im usually on and always checking things. plus my settings were also always like that when i joined before i became a admin.

@KayaRoseWho I understand wanting to avoid drama, but I still think it’s a fair concern to bring up. When someone is part of a staff team, communication and accessibility are important. While people can comment under posts, that isn’t always the most appropriate or effective way to handle concerns, reports, or other issues that may need privacy. Keeping DMs completely closed can make things more difficult for members who genuinely need help. At the end of the day, it’s your choice how you manage your account, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to question how staff communication works when direct contact isn’t available.

kailovesu did you happen to have an issue? Now would be the time to speak about it. That way, if others have the same issue, they can personally see it :D I’m sure if someone is having an issue, they could also contact another admin on here. luckily she isnt the only one on here. i do see your point though.

@KayaRoseWho That’s not really the point I’m making. Requiring members to publicly ask for a DM before they can privately discuss an issue just adds an unnecessary step to the process. Not everyone is comfortable announcing that they have a problem in a public thread, especially if it involves another member, staff concerns, or something personal.

luciliamond_0928 I don’t currently have an issue that needs staff intervention, but whether I have one right now isn’t really relevant to the point I was making. My concern is about accessibility. Telling members to publicly ask for a DM first, or directing them to a different admin, doesn’t address the fact that one of the admins has made direct communication unavailable by default. Not every issue should have to start in a public comment section, especially if it’s sensitive or involves another member. I’m not saying anyone is incapable of being staff. I’m saying that being reachable is an important part of the role, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to question how that works when members can’t contact an admin directly.

i was thinking you had an issue due to your question. i think maybe there is a misunderstanding here. kaya is saying she will personally message them. While people can’t message her, she can start conversations with others. so it doesn’t require naming anything personal. i think Kaya appreciates your concern about this topic but she is also concerned with being harassed at this time. this is not about you specifically. she is still being picked at by others as we speak. This process for her is much safer for both parties. i agree it is important to be reachable too. -
