just talking about school life so far
-
school is school
i don’t really like school
to the main point
I am a highschooler, the last 4 years of my life my grades genuinely matter and will reflect on me in the future. I have about 1-2 years left until I’m finally done with school.
Because of this, I’m going to actually try to put in effort. I will be offline for the entire day. I wake up at 6 to get ready, bus shows up at 7, school starts at 8. Each class lasts an hour and thirty minutes, and school ends at 3:09. I hop on the bus at 3:15. Busses leave at 3:30. I get home just a little sooner than 4. I then do any homework I have and then study, which will take any amount of time depending on the work I am doing.
I’ll probably arrive after 7PM, thus I wont be online too much. Weekends exceptional.
so basically to summarize, i’m too busy with school to deal with you.
school is okay so far. students far more tolerable in highschool; teachers chill, work is difficult. -
@J-u-n I feel the same way about school

I like how chill my teachers are - especially math. I had 3 great math teachers in a row throughout my first year and a half!
My first teacher, Mr. Bedaux, every Friday he’d take us outside for a “math walk”, around the perimeter of the campass, through the vegetation. We’d come up with a math related question having to do with what was around us, but it was a time of being one with nature! It was great! He sadly left, saying that this wasn’t the job for him ; (.
My second teacher, Mr. Fowler, nothing seemed to tick him off - he was the chillest math teacher ever! But there was an exception: It was your choice to pay attention. Well, some of my friends took that to their advantage, and were literally on their phones throughout his lessons. We would also walk around and visit people during his lessons ha! ; D I remember that! I wish I had him this year - he also does Geometry as well as Algebra 1B.
This years teacher, Mr. King, he’s overall funny - he’s got a personality no one would expect! As he’s teaching, he’d throw in some jokes, talk about funny stuff that has happened in his life or just have a good old conversation, leading him away from what we were learning haha! I don’t mean any harm, but the way he talks kinda sounds like he’s drunk a little bit.
But the point is, there are extraordinary teachers out there that really make your learning experience something to remember! ; ) -
@J-u-n sounds like my school life lol. Enjoy it my dude!
-
Shazz_ Dude absolutely. I’ve been absolutely blessed to go to private schools my whole life. I have only had 1 or 2 teachers I didnt like. I have a few personal favorites, but every teacher is different! Without such enthusiastic teachers as I have had I wouldnt dream of being a chemical engineer. I truly believe anyone can learn with the right teachers, as long as you put in the effort!
That being said, if you (the reader) have a bad teacher, or even multiple, dont let that stop you! There’s loads of stuff online for basically any subject - especially math - as long as you know what to look for. Practice makes perfect is especially true if you depend on online videos. Dont think of this as a disadvantage either! Studies show that students who research stuff on their own time and learn things for themselves learn stuff better than they would even with a master teacher!

Tree it’s my first time in private school and my first time going to middle school in person (I’m in uth grade)

@J-u-n Hey, I hope things go well for you! I participate in marching band and require some of my time after school to be used for practicing- and some of my weekends used to compete against other bands- so I have a similar situation! School kinda stinks too, in my opinion.
Anyways, GL!
-
@InvalidBandit Same, marching band is a blast though. What do you play? I play Tuba/Sousaphone!
-
Tree Yeah, marching band’s fun!
I’m a vibraphone, so I don’t know how it feels to play Tuba/Sousaphone… How does it feel to play it? -
@InvalidBandit It’s heavy xD but it’s fun! The music is pretty straightforward most of the time for tuba imo, so it’s not hard to memorize stuff most of the time. plus BASS. Must be nice not to have to march though xD (unless you do?). I highly enjoy pep band stuff though, the basslines for thst stuff is fire
