Had an interesting conversation with a 7th grader on religion
-
Had to explain to the kid that although people might believe in a certain religious figure, they can come in all sorts of personalities, mean, kind, judging, loving, everything. Kid asked me “how can you be black and not believe in God?” And now, I have my own opinions, and my own personal views being believing in science and proof, but I will never ever diss anyone for believing in any religious figure or not believing in anything at all. My girlfriend used to be wican, and might still be, y’know that’s none of my business and not gonna change my views on her. This kid constantly tells me “you need god” so I asked him why he believes in god and why he tries to force it on me, he replies with “cause I do” and it made me think about how he’s still just a kid, but he also said he sees a future in God. Personally, I think that’s great. If this figure makes you happy, makes you see a future, hope, love, and joy, I highly enjoy that for you and for those around you. It’s amazing what religion can do for others, really is. But to try and force it on people, like my grandma for my dad, is baffling. The way people try to force religion on others is horrible, horrifying, disgusting, and absolutely insane and psychotic. Cause the damage and trauma from the certain ways people have tried is so sad and disgusting… but it’s important to realize, it doesn’t matter what you believe in, as long as you’re a good person that’s all that matters. Believe in Satan, believe in God, as long as you’re a good person, then whatever.
