Ah, I always thought there was a sense of unity in Yugoslavia during Tito’s time, but it’s interesting to hear your take on it.

It turned into a big THICK fight

in slovenia, the war only lasted 10 days.
there weren’t many serbs in slovenia so belgrade didn’t care that much that they left

I didn’t heard that Slovenia had a relatively short conflict during the breakup. It’s interesting that the ethnic composition may have influenced the dynamics…

@OVERLORD yeah, i’m from a former yugoslav country so i know a lot

ordinary people didn’t hate each other, it’s just the governments and nationalists that did.
but, there was a lot of nationalism after tito died, and plus tensions also flared because serbia wanted more unity and centralism while others like slovenia croatia etc wanted more autonomy and wanted to rule over their respective territories, much like countries in EU do today

That makes sense, it often seems like political leaders and nationalists drive a lot of the conflicts.

ones wanted one thing while another side wanted a totally different thing that was partially or fully against the thing the first group proposed
