Title: AITA for assuming my roommate’s " Emotional Support Chicken" was just a regular chicken in a vest?
So I (25M) have been living with my roommate (23F) for about 6 months now. We get along great, but she’s always been a bit… eccentric. Last week, she comes home with a chicken in a tiny vest and tells me it’s her new “Emotional Support Chicken” named Cluck Norris.
At first, I’m thinking, “Okay, cool, I guess that’s a thing now.” But then I start noticing that Cluck is just, like, a regular chicken. It doesn’t do anything special, it just pecks at the floor and poops everywhere. I’m starting to think that my roommate just really likes chickens and is using the “Emotional Support” label as an excuse to have a pet in our no-pets apartment.
So, I do some digging and find out that you need a doctor’s note to get an Emotional Support Animal, and my roommate doesn’t have one. I confront her about it, and she gets super defensive, saying that Cluck is a “certified therapy chicken” and that I’m just jealous of their special bond. So I kicked her out.
AITA?
