The Generosity Series: 10

Secret Generosity
You can be generous by definition just by giving up something for someone, but true and ultimate generosity is giving and expecting nothing in return. It’s not bad to want to exchange deeds with someone but never expect it. I know it’s easy to want someone to do something for you after you did something for them. It feels mutual and equal. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. But generosity is more than a mutual reciprocation. It’s not something you do in expectation of something in return. Or even for recognition. You see on social media people doing charity events and they post all these pictures posing. It’s sometimes nice to get credit for the things you do, but that’s not the goal here. The goal isn’t even to make yourself feel good. That’s just a bonus to being generous. The goal is simply doing something for someone else to better the world. It might not feel rewarding, or even feel like there’s any point to do anything for anyone. It could even feel useless if no one sees what you do. But generosity is more than giving, though. It’s about being humble enough to serve. -
@Duchess I came up with this quote when I was younger–“I want to change the world for the better. I don’t even care if people knew it was me who did it or not, I just want to see humanity restored.” I still think about that quote from time through time, as it motivates to use that “Secret Generosity” at times through my life. Thank you for those words, Duchess. They really reminded me of my quote, and they’ve inspired me, as with all of your other posts of the Generosity Series.
We need more people like you not only on MPPC, but in real life, Duchess. Thank you for just being who you are
You really are gonna go far someday with your kind spirit.
