Been a while, sorry, I’ve been pretty busy lately, but I’ll still try to get to these as quick as I can.

So this is obviously a very tricky situation. It’s fairly clear to me that this gentleman is most likely not hitting on you. There could be many motivations for this behavior, but i don’t think love is it.
Unfortunately, I think the only thing you can do is perhaps have a deep talk with your mother, and try to open her eyes as to what you feel is the right thing. She could agree with you, or she could continue to believe what she believes.
If she doesn’t jump to your side, then perhaps it’s just not in the cards to pursue. Your mother is likely trying to protect you, which is frustrating sometimes, having overprotective parents. But I feel as though if you persisted onward without your mothers approval, there may be consequences.
Be that as it may, I hope everything gets resolved. It’s wholesome to know someone thinks you’re a good role model. I may not be the perfect role model by any standards, but I’m always happy to help!
