RE: Participated in my first walk out!! (Anti-ICE)posted in Blog
Lowkey I would ask why the mfs in my school are “naturally” racist but I would get tomatoes thrown at me (figuratively)
So like that’d be literally with some kids in my school

Participated in my first walk out!! (Anti-ICE)posted in Blog
Some students in my school organized a walkout against I.C.E. today, and so I walked around with a decently-sized group, and I got a sign that said “I prefer ice crushed” and it was honestly pretty fun! (I know that might be a little fucked up to say, but it felt nice to stand up for what I believe in.)
Only thing that was kinda bad about it is that my school has a Republican Club and the student president of the club and one other member followed us, yelling at us, carrying a Trump flag, basically protesting our protest. One of them called a member of our group a slur (some slur against Hispanics/Spanish-speakers) (I didn’t hear which one) and the guy (who got called the slur) like started to beat the other guy up, and the cops who were escorting/following us had to break it up.
I think the kid is okay, but this was meant to be a peaceful protest, so I was a bit disappointed that it turned violent (temporarily) so quickly, but otherwise all was well! We had a lot of support from people who were out and about, people driving by, etc.

RE: My opinions on AIposted in Blog
Tenna!! | 💤🏝️ I apologize for being a bit late to the discussion, but I agree with some of your points (especially the ones about taking away opportunities from people and stealing our work and art and music), and while it can be helpful, obviously, there’s the problem of AI taking and using water to be powered. I’ve seen interviews with people who live next to the service hubs, and their water pressure and availability is almost next to nothing.
Another thing I’ve seen people bring up about the chatbots (Copilot, GPT, Gemini, Grok, cai/chai, etc.) is that they use them for companionship–sometimes after a day, they want to talk to someone, but they are so emotionally and physically drained that they cannot bring themselves to talk to someone.
(Whether through fear that they will only drain them more, or people are busy, etc.)While I understand this and have done this myself, they can be addictive–I myself do not know anyone who has depended on them so much like this, but I have seen reports and posts about things like this, and continued use only uses more resources, and makes you more and more addicted.
Going off of that, I think that occasional use is okay in moderation.I guess what I’m trying to say is that AI is definitely bad for the environment, but I can understand the usage on occassion.
