So, as most of you know, I have tics/twitches. I haven’t had them until about 2-3 years ago. At first it was just the automatic uncontrollable tensing of my muscles, then I began to have physical head jerks and then some verbal, then after a bit of help and time, they died down, but as of recent, they started back up again as tongue clicks and head jerks. I have no way of controlling or supressing unless I want to have an internal attack.

SO THE REAL STORY STARTS DOWN HERE :
I started twitching in front of my parents today, which I was trying my best not to cause I know they’d be suspicious and judging. My mom was just reasonable and was like “I think she might have tourettes. Honey do you have tourettes???” and my dad went on to be like “No, don’t encourage it don’t give her ideas. She might start having tics.” and then a little later he was like “What’s up with the clicking? You’ve done it 3 times now today so…?” “Don’t start with the bullshit.” As to say that I’m just faking it, which I’m not because it is very painful for me sometimes, and I wouldn’t fake a serious disorder like that, that shit is so stupid and fucking- idiotic and cruel, to fake a disorder like that. SOOOO awkwardly I was just like “I’m just doing it for fun, but… Okay then I’ll just stop… or I’ll just stop existing if you want me to stop, like… okayyyy, idk what ur talking about” I said ‘im just doing it for fun’ to kinda steer away from the fact that it’s an actual problem, and I wasn’t in the mood to talk about disorders and serious shit in that moment, so I just lied and said I was doing it just cuz.

My dad never ever understands that I may actually have something wrong with me and just wants me to be “normal”. Sooo I can’t really talk about my anxiety, my tics, none of that.

@HEXER Honestly, me and my brother both had a ‘tic’ thing at one point - my brother had a verbal one, but I can’t remember what my twitch was.
I know I had one because my dad was always onto me, making fun of it and whatnot. I remember that at least.
But I can relate to how your situation may feel - very understandable. Hopefully your twitches aren’t that serious though.

@HEXER Personally, I probably wouldn’t have flat out say it’s just something you do for fun since now they’re probably just going to tell you to quit it cold turkey. But it’s alright, I know you just don’t want your parents to think you have a problem. It’s worth exploring though. Involuntary actions are probably more awkward than anything.
