Bulbasaur:

Most of the pokedex entries for bulbasaur
list out what the bulb’s purpose is and what it does.

Facts as written in the entries:
A strange seed was planted on its back at birth.
By soaking up the sun’s rays, the seed grows progressively larger.
The plant sprouts and grows with this Pokémon.
In the bulb on its back, it stores energy.
The pouch is filled with numerous seeds.
For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back.

(note how its inconsistent on whether the thing on its back is called a bulb, seed, or pouch.)
