I'm not black. I had a black avatar. This is what your average white girl said to me.

This is an interesting and in-general thought.
I’m more curious why people associate monkeys with a black people. In fact, now I’m inspired on this topic.
-
@Duchess
Yeah I never got that either, it was kinda random- People usually use it as an insult or a way to joke
-
Colonial white people received black people to be subhuman, so monkey @Duchess
-
That’s the best way to explain it without getting into a whole bunch of history
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu Yes, but why are people still saying it like people think black people are monkeys?
-
Because people are racist @Duchess
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu What about the people who aren’t actually racist by definition but still make race jokes like it’s funny or cool? I don’t get that.
-
really callin you monkey?? ong?
-
@salmonella like i’m not even black but i’m a monkey now ig
-
I do it as a coping mechanism sometimes because it’s helpful to make being called those names by actual racist people a whole lot less painful @Duchess
-
Like how I made jokes after being called the N. word by a police officer it helped me get through it
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu Well okay.
