she only said that bc my friend called cps on her mom for hitting her and she found out today -

I’m sorry that you had to hear that from your mother and I’m glad you wanted to defend your father.Some things can be brought out to hurt. For example, like how your mother mentions the incident of your friend and their parent(s), which was not okay.
But it is also not okay to be in an adults conversation (Just my personal opinion).
No one really knows if your father paid the taxes or not. He would only know if he’d done so, which could probably why your mother was yelling at him like that.As a child in some tough situations, try to have fun as much as possible before you get to the point where have to do the important things of life.
