Nothing’s better than swinging back and forth on that plastic and metal swingset your grandpa put together years ago, the back right leg moving in and out of the ground; threatening to collapse. Though you know it never will, it’s been like that for years, and all the other legs are holding it in.
And while you swing, watching the sun slowly fall behind the treetops; your dog sits by the fence, the chewed-up soccer ball she’d absolutely demolished right in front of her as she watches you. She may not do the best job, but she wants to protect you.
The birds sing in the backround, speaking to each other in a language only they understand. Their call echoes through the air, the only other sound being the occasional car going by, or the wind gently swaying the trees.
Or when you play ball with that same dog that makes sure you’re safe, telling her to stay as you slowly make your way to the ball you kicked, (as, you’re not the best at kicking a chewed-up soccer ball with crocs on, so you need to kick it again) before hearing a set of bounding paws approaching you. You scream, then giggle, and pet her. She’s not the best at waiting.
