My Hair Journey
-
I grew up with straight hair with very curly baby hairs. I thought everyone had curly baby hairs. They dont?? Middleschool, I noticed my hair become…frizzier. Highschool, even frizzier. Adulthood, 80’s crimped afro. What happened? I thought to myself, I just have been using the wrong brush my whole life and my hair is fried from the sun. Yeah, that’s got to be it. Every time I showered, my hair became it’s worse frizz. I figured it was because the hot water. But one day I noticed actual locks of curls and waves. I was stunned and very confused as I thought I was a straight haired female my entire life.
That was the moment I realized I dont have straight hair. I dont have frizzy hair. I have wavy/curly hair. I went on my laptop and started searching other woman in my situation and I couldnt believe it. I wasnt the only one! The mystery with my hair was solved. I honestly felt better knowing it wasnt just that I had toasted hair. It was my natural hair screaming to come out. This was 6 months ago. And now that I’ve been treating my hair like I should have been my whole life, I have been feeling way more confident about my hair. It reminded me of the quote Einstein used to say, "if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” If you judge your hair by it’s ability to be a certain hair texture, you’ll live your whole life thinking you have bad hair.
