It’s rare people dating in highschool stay with that person, let alone middleschool. My advice would have been to not start dating till later on.

People don’t seem to know how to wait for the right person. People base love off qualities that don’t matter. What do you want to see in someone? What matters most? Don’t tell me “kind and sweet” because not everyone is kind and sweet 24/7, and expect that. Relating with something deeper like moral values and view on important topics you care about is a more meaningful bond with someone than liking a sweet person. I mean, that’s nice too. But don’t just look for kindness, look for a unique kindness. Don’t just look for a person who looks good. Unnecessary qualities like if your names “sound good together” or you “look cute together” means nothing. And honestly, those little seemingly perfect things fool a lot of people to think “everything fits perfectly because this is the one.” Let me tell you, it’s not perfect once you realize someone is not who you fantasized. You have to know someone for at least a year to get to know them truly. And don’t believe people are the same at school as they are at home. Know every side of a person before you dare commit your heart to someone. It sounds like a lot, but dating isn’t a game you play. Don’t play yourself if you don’t want to get played. If you can control who you spend your life with, at least do yourself a favor and do it right. For the sake of yourself. Dating someone prematurely is like going to a movie theater without the snacks. You won’t enjoy it as much with that something missing, and even if you stick it out, you’re hungry in the end. That something missing is the deep bond you want to have with someone. It’s not a good relationship if it’s not a deep one. No one wants a surface layer relationship. Make sure you find someone who will care about you for the goodness of you. Not themself. And some advice… Don’t trust someone with everything too soon. I know that sounds bad, but I’ve heard too many people thinking they can trust someone with their deepest secret the first date or two and then they don’t work out and guess who’s hurting? What Im saying is… Don’t throw in all your chips every time. That’s literally gambling your entire heart. Over. And over. I know, I know, “But this is the one, I swear!” Who said that before? And before that? Then…guess…who’s…hurting… You.
