[PSA] "sped" is an ass term
-
calling neurodivergent people (autism, ocd, adhd . .) sped is fucking ass.
if you did not know, sped is short for special education. it is mainly for those with learning disabilities as is (sorry if i say it wrong) but now people are using it as a term to show (in my opinion (and experience)) that somebody is dumb.
- calling someone with a learning or mental disability “sped” is really offensive toward them because one, not all people who has a mental or learning disability are not dumb at all. two, its of course, overused. plus, most people who are neurodivergent do not even belong in sped, they have intelligence too
- sped is mostly connected to NPC, which means “non-player character” but also using that term to tell others they aren’t paying attention or their just dumb (imo) which kind of also ruins the meaning of NPC and sped.
tl, dr: educate yourselves. just say that they should have paid attention, not that gross term.
thank you.

@laraiia to that person who called me sped in the first place, now im regretful for saying sorry to stomping on your snickers chocolate. i hope its crushed
and you also deserved to get spat on during the first day of school too -
@laraiia I’ve actually never heard of the offensive term ‘sped’, but it’s good you’ve said this because now I understand that some people do in fact call neuro-divergent people a certain word, given that they assume everyone in that category is dumb.
That does seem rude, and I’m sorry that someone called you that before. -
Shazz_ i get called that shit many times, it infuriates me
-
@laraiia Who calls you that? That ‘person’ you speak of?
-
Shazz_ not just one, OTHERS.
-
@laraiia Oh - I assumed it was a specific person since you said that, but I’m mistaken.
They’re obviously the ones that need to be properly educated honestly. -
