guess whos family doesnt celebrate 4th of july
-
we dont but we like fireworks so i mean
but tbh theres no reason for us to celebrate, our ancestors werent free on the 4th of july so 🤷
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu You can say that about a lot of holidays.
There’s no reason to celebrate Christmas or Easter if you’re not Christian.
There’s no reason to celebrate Thanksgiving if your ancestors weren’t a part of the English Colonists.
There’s no reason to celebrate Veteran’s day if none of your family was in the military.It’s worth celebrating if you don’t only see America as a previously slave-owning country. Jews were slaves during the Nazi era, but they don’t say there’s no point in having a comfortable bed because their ancestors didn’t have one.
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu Wh… no words.
-
@InvalidBandit Is that a good or bad thing lol
-
@Duchess Uh- bad
-
@InvalidBandit Bad? How so
-
@Duchess It’s- history about our Country! It’s a day to celebrate independence.
-
And while I realize that, my experiences in the world are gonna be different than yours and I’m reminded of that constantly.
-
Just because I don’t celebrate July 4 it doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate being in America
-
@InvalidBandit Uh…I know. If you didn’t get the point I was trying to make, I was getting that you can’t really say “there’s no point in celebrating because my ancestors…” because you can say that about many holidays that people still celebrate. Hence the list.
-
For me honestly, in my family we celebrate Juneteenth like july4
-
I love celebrating Independence day. It’s an important holiday, no matter where your ancestors are from or what they did.
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu Well, that’s not what I said at all.
-
@a7x-isbetter-thanu Wow. You don’t- okay.
-
@InvalidBandit
-
