but tbh theres no reason for us to celebrate, our ancestors werent free on the 4th of july so š¤·

Thereās no reason to celebrate Christmas or Easter if youāre not Christian.
Thereās no reason to celebrate Thanksgiving if your ancestors werenāt a part of the English Colonists.
Thereās no reason to celebrate Veteranās day if none of your family was in the military.Itās worth celebrating if you donāt only see America as a previously slave-owning country. Jews were slaves during the Nazi era, but they donāt say thereās no point in having a comfortable bed because their ancestors didnāt have one.

I love celebrating Independence day. Itās an important holiday, no matter where your ancestors are from or what they did.
