This world is messed up
-
My little sister came in my room a little bit earlier, shes gonna ask me “Finny, am I pretty?”. As any good older sibling would do I respond “Yes of course!”. And she starts telling me about how the kids in her class said shes not pretty and were talking about her forehead. I even caught her in my moms makeup trying to make herself pretty. When I was 8, I was playing with dolls and making dumb decisions, I wasn’t worried about being pretty. I’m so concerned for her, shes expressed wanting to kill herself and stuff of a similar sort a lot of times. I’m genuinely worried and I don’t know how to help her. Those are all things I think about yes, but I’m 14 with diagnosed depression, bipolar, ADHD and autism. Shes 8 and shes never felt like this in her life. Shes always been my little sweet sister and I feel like I’m losing her to some stupid kids and I know it seems like I don’t care about a lot. I shrug off a lot of stuff but my family, my best friends, and my husband I love them all so much and I can’t even explain it. It’s worrying me a lot and I just, I want to be able to tell her it’s all gonna get easier when she grows up but it’s not. It’s really not. Matter a fact it gets so much worse when you’re older and I want to be able to help but it’s just… I can’t really tell her anything besides reassure her that shes pretty and say that the kids are being stupid and she shouldn’t listen. My mom has enough on her plate and I want to try and handle this alone so… yeah. Good times.bolded text

This is a messed up world ngl

@Tsunamii Like fr, kids were not like that when I was 8 and that was only what… 6 years ago?
-
Wow, holy shit. I remember when I was going through kind of the same, this is horrible. No 8 year old should EVER go through this. Those kid’s parents need to get their child and their shit under control, I’m actually VERY sorry to hear about this. Like genuinely, i’m not religious, but I pray for your sister… :(
-
@X-Cyx-X It hurts and just gets worse over the years… :(
-
@X-Cyx-X I’m sorry, finn.
-
@FinnyWinny
And this is why parents need to teach their kid better than what they're doing to your little sister. No kid should EVER act nor be treated this way.
-
@FinnyWinny Your little sister, all ready expressing suicide??
I would thankfully believe that she’s too young to even consider things like that seriously, let alone even understanding the tremendous effects of that. Those other kids should known better. Keep being the older sibling you are - every little bit of encouragement and love helps a long way.
Wow, super sorry. Let her know that she is the best little sister a sibling could ever have. -
You need to be there for her… protect her, and be someone she feels comfortable with.
Be your sister’s hero, Finn. -
@FinnyWinny The world is getting darker each year. Your sister has nothing to worry about, I bet she’s pretty and all you can do is continue to bring her self esteem up. It may hurt or be difficult to help her with no idea how to help her, but it will mean so much to her if she knows how much she means to you. Tell her to keep her head up and to always keep smiling because one day everything will get better. I hope everything gets better in the future!
-
@FinnyWinny Wow. Yeah, the world influences us young. I stopped wearing certain childish clothing when I was in middle school because one comment I heard through the grapevine about me. People want you to change. And they want you to fit into their little perfect opinion. I hope she doesn’t continue to try to change herself. A great lesson to learn is to just love yourself for who you are and what you look like. You’re her sister, so maybe set that example for her, yknow?

@FinnyWinny
finny,
im sorry that your sister is going through that and im really sorry that you feel like you cant help her. all i give you is to keep saying that shes beautiful and that shes fucking amazing because deep down within those feelings of hers, she knows she is but those words get to her head and since shes such at young age, she listens to those words and then she thinks they’re all true. trust me, i know how it feels, like im still going through the getting called names, and wondering if im pretty, or wondering if im good enough. like i truly know what shes feeling and its horrible to see that your 8 year old sister has these feelings and these thoughts. i couldnt even imagine how your feeling and i really hope it gets better for both of you amour because you are both amazing and even though i never met your sister before, i love you both and i really fucking hope those kids stop picking on her. its just going to get worse if they dont. and its sad that at such a young age kids really know how to pick on others.
also, love, im sorry about your mom. like honestly. i have to watch my mom struggle trying to even get food on the table because everything is so experience and shes trying so hard to get everything done at once and i honestly wish i could help my mom but she never allows me. its hard to see my mom struggling on her own and i cant even imagine how your mom is feeling.
so please, tell you mom that shes worth it and that your grateful for everything because shes the only mom you got. ((unless you have a stepmom but you know what i mean)) -
