      DRAMA

      • Do not be toxic or engage in drama you are not involved in. If you have an issue with a user, report them or privately message the staff. Do not promote others to break any rules.
      • Do not troll to be “funny” or get reactions, as it may cause conflict.
      • Do not attempt to ruin others’ reputation or create propaganda. Keep personal problems in dms with the appropriate individuals. If you feel an issue is serious, privately contact staff. If a thread is locked, do not repost the same topic.
      • Do not post about other people without asking. This includes targetted bio messages, making callout posts, posting screenshots of personal conversations, info about someone, IP’s, specific locations, real names, or emails.

      BANS

      • Do not evade bans. If you were banned, it was for a reason, and evading may result in an IP ban. To appeal your ban, use the ban appeal category. If you wish to have an alt account, talk to the staff for permission.
      • Permanent bans are appealable but have no guarantee of change.

      POSTS

      • Be respectful to others’ opinions, choices, and beliefs. If someone says something that you do not like, keep responses civil or do not respond at all.
      • Choose the correct category for your topics to help keep the forum consistent and organized. Tags are available to further organize your posts.
      • Avoid post-flooding and keep low-quality threads in the “Boredom” category. Try to reuse existing topics. No spamming.
      • Keep controversial topics appropriate and civil. Mentions of suicide and self-harm should not become gory and must have a Trigger Warning tag or other appropriate labels.
      • Keeps jokes/memes appropriate for all audiences. Understand the consequences of creating offensive posts.

      NSFW

      • Do not post inappropriate public or private content. This includes posting or sharing NSFW/gory memes, art, or images. Keep usernames appropriate.
      • Do not publicly/privately share links to outside NSFW content. This is considered luring. Any outside platforms with NSFW content must be shared outside of MPPC, with the knowledge and consent of all parties.
      • No Inappropriate roleplaying in public or dms.

      RESPONSIBILITY

      • Use the reputation system responsibly. Votes should reflect the quality of the message content, which means you may not engage in reputation bombing or encourage others to downvote/upvote content.
      • Do not abuse the report system by creating false reports or spamming reports on users.
      • Choose the correct category for your topics to help keep the forum consistent and organized. Use an appropriate number of tags.

    • Forum Guidelines & Etiquette

In addition to the Multiplayer Piano Site Rules, the following rules should be taken into consideration when participating on the Multiplayer Piano Community Forum.

      • Do not be toxic to other members or flame in retaliation. If someone is annoying or hurting you and/or you believe they should be punished, report them or message the moderators privately.
      • Do not evade bans. If you were banned, it was for a reason, and evading will escalate yourself to an IP ban. You may only use alts to appeal your ban to the staff.
      • Use the reputation system responsibly. Votes should reflect the quality of the message content. Do not ask for votes or engage in reputation farming.
      • Choose the most appropriate category for your topics to help keep the forum consistent and organized.
      • Avoid flooding the forum with low-quality topics. Try to re-use existing topics whenever feasible. Topics should have a descriptive title to clearly express what the topic’s about to forum browsers.

Ultimately, any issues shall be resolved by the forum moderators at their discretion. If you have a complaint about any of the staff, you can contact the administrators or e-mail the owner at [email protected].

    • Need moderators

Ideally we should have moderators that are active members of the community who know people and know what’s going on so they can resolve disputes and flaming by talking to people rather than just banning whoever gets reported, as the administrators do not have the time nor insight to provide the optimal moderation experience. If you think you have what it takes to make this forum a better place for everyone, apply here.

I’m thinking @Duchess and Shazz_ might be a good start. Duchess was one of the earliest active members.

    • I made a new site

Hi, so NodeBB is a nice community platform, but I’ve always felt that it wasn’t appropriate for most of the stuff that these forums are used for.

You might remember a while back I was testing a Mastodon server, but it turned out a lot of people couldn’t use it because they didn’t have an email address and there’s no way to make it accept registrations without verifying emails. Well I found an alternative that might be more suitable for our needs.

      Check it out: https://mpp.social

It’s very simple to use, just sign up and start posting whatever you feel like, and see what other people are posting. No categories, no thread titles, just straight-up posts, and you can reply to any other posts to form branching threads. You can use #hashtags if you still want to organize content, however.

I think it would be a good idea to use this for all the low-quality posting and chitchat, while these forums should be used for more important, serious discussions.

    • Forum organization

Most of the content is all mixed up in the off-topic category so I feel like it should be broken up into sub-categories, but what sub-categories should there be?

also if you have any other ideas how the forums could be organized better, please share

@Laws i’m thinking share could have both mpp-related and unrelated stuff so that’s why it’s separate. so it’s the place to go if you want everyone to see something. otherwise we’d need a separate one for mpp-related and off-topic and idk about that

I think username has to be made of letters, numbers, underscores and maybe hyphens. That’s what you use when you @ someone, the display name you can put whatever you want with spaces and stuff.
