It’s usually really hard for people to tell their crush they like them. And it’s a harder to consider the fact that they won’t like you back. It seems more often than not, people usually say they “like” them back. I’ve been starting to think people don’t always say that genuinely. I’ve seen it, too. And it’s not good. It’s a lie.
Someone confesses to you.
In simple words, people like being liked. And when someone likes you, the only thing stopping you from dating is you. And people want to be liked. And they want to date. And they want to like someone. Even if they didn’t like them at first. So they actually start thinking they do like that person. Stop saying you like someone back just because you want to date someone. This is a huge problem with young dating. All it takes is one person saying they liked you, and then you feel like you “like” them back. I think it’s a placebo. Someone says they like you, so based on your current desire to date someone, you start thinking you like that person too. It makes you start thinking of the potential of that situation. The potential to be happy. And people don’t want to miss that potential.
Someone confesses to you when you’re already dating someone.
I’ve seen a disturbing amount of times that people start liking the person who confessed to them while they are already dating someone. And I think it’s because of the placebo I talked about. If you ask me, if you start liking someone else while you’re dating someone, you aren’t committed to you’re current relationship. And I’d even so much as say you don’t like them as much as you thought either. Becuase if you did, you wouldn’t be “falling in love” with someone else on the side. I bet that’s how polygamists came to be. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s just a hunch. I’m telling you right now that if you like someone while you’re still dating someone else, start thinking things over. I don’t want you hurting anyone. Even if your partner never found out, it’s still wrong.
