@yourlocalkitkat Sorry about your cousin’s passing, even so a year ago - whoever you to for the comfort that you most need, that person should really have the utmost respect and condolences towards you. Not that they’re forced to, of course, but because it’s more of the morally right thing to do as him being a friend. Anyone for that matter.
If it doesn’t feel like any of his business, then so be it for him. Saying that “it’s fine”, then walking away, well, I don’t think it would cover the entire discomfort here, let alone seeming like he ignored the whole point, but If he has the empathy to leave you alone with reverence after that, then that would be the best for him.
But going as far as ghosting you right after, what real reason would even provoke that in him? If he got asked by you for comfort, then people like him should express their feelings to the person that needs it the most, not complain about it in the first place. It just doesn’t make sense, honestly. -
