Sad realization
-
@whatswrongwith-carrie It’s called having old-schooled parents, they’ll never change, no matter how much you want them to
-
@whatswrongwith-carrie im pretty sure its just the way he was raised in his time- so it cant be entirely his fault, but im sorry to hear your father is like that, if it helps at all- everyone here will support you, even me
-
@Adam never?
-
@whatswrongwith-carrie never

When people make vent posts like this, they know that it’s just because their parents were raised to think that way. In telling them that, you might as well be trying to justify that person’s parents behavior and that they shouldn’t be “too upset about it” just because the parent is who they are. You may not think you’re being harmful, but please watch what you do and say. You are not helping.
@Adam Rabbit -
I’d be pretty upset at you myself if you tried to justify my dad’s behavior towards me. So, respectfully, try avoid doing it to this individual.
-
@zack I’m just saying it the way it is
-
@Adam doesn’t mean it’s a nice thing to say though
this was under “asking for support” not “asking for mean truths I already knew” -
I’m sorry that I’m so fucking blunt the way in the way I talk, and I do support them, I truly do, because I know how they feel, my parents are the same fucking way
-
It isn’t necessarily the parents fault they’re not open-minded, and it is mostly because they grew up in a generation where this shit wasn’t cool. Nevertheless, though, if they can’t change and you don’t want to either, you don’t need to waste your time talking them through it or wasting your time dealing with shitty parents that put their children through emotional harm just because they don’t particularly agree with such and such. Waiting may be difficult, but one day you’ll be an adult, you can move out, get your own new life and push them out of it and cut them off like puppet strings.
-
@zack i’m not cutting them off unless i reallyn need to
-
@whatswrongwith-carrie Your choice, not mine. Even so, you’ll realize how necessary it is to cut out emotional harm from your life, even if you don’t really get that now.
