Several were. Attack dogs and stuff similar. There were actually several animals of war. An incredibly brave horse who ran through and brought ammunitions to the soldiers. A bear that literally scared the shit out of others while on the American side he’d cuddle up and keep several soldiers warm at night. My personal favorite unsinkable Sam managing to survive three ship sinkings and then retiring after being an emotional support animal to the soldiers and motivation to keep them going. One pitbull in particular that I remember was awarded several medals for his bravery as well as both the bear and horse receiving several medals of war
