I need some tech help.

I’ve been struggling with this issue ever since my laptop account was created. If someone could help me with this issue, I’d be one happy lady.
Upon getting a new laptop around 4 years ago, I didnt know I was creating my laptop account under my dad’s microsoft admin control. Now, every time I want to install something, I need his pin. Luckily, I figured out the pin a while back, but unfortunately I’ve forgotten it (oops). I’ve been trying to research how to get my account off my dad’s control, but Im afraid to make a change Ill regret.
I tried making a new account but it seems to just make an account still under my dad’s admin control. That stinks.
Ive also tried creating a local account, but it seems that doesnt actually get myself off my dad’s admin control. I was wondering if i could just remove my device from my microsoft account (I dont use microsoft anyways, so it’s not a big deal), but my big question is: Will that make me the admin to my laptop or will I still need my dad’s pin?
Again, I’d really appreciate if someone could help me with this becuase Im at a loss.

Answer: No, that will only disconnect your Microsoft account from the laptop. You will still need his pin to do anything admin related. Is a password set? The pin and passwords are separate (unless the pin is the password).
Short answer: No, the pin is the key. Alternatively, you could try the password for his account.
Hope this helps.

@Karol Thanks, Karol. I guess i will just have to get his password somehow. Not sure how without looking suspicious. I just wish I could remove microsoft from my laptop all together. It’s so dumb.

@Duchess just ask him and explain maybe?

@Foxaroo I probably could but I rather not since I know my dad’s nosey and would want to know what Im installing. I actually figured out the pin though! Thank you, Fox

Make sure to write that down somewhere, so you don’t forget again

Both go together. That’s basically trying to remove “laptop” from the word laptop, if that makes any sense.
