SLAM.
The door roughly closes, signalling Carrie’s angered arrival.
Sofi looked up from her book on the couch, closing it and standing up in a mere three seconds.
“Carrie, where have you been?”
Sofi hissed, crossing her arms. It had been almost two days since Carrie was back at the house. God knows what she was doing. And obviously, her clothes were stained with blood. And it smelled like hers.
The thick metallic scent of blood made her throat burn, but she learned to supress those feelings; getting used to it.
“I’ve been… out?”
Carrie said dryly, making her way to the kitchen and rummaging around it like a raccoon buried through trash. It was obvious she was cranky from lack of sleep, and definetely did not want to talk about whatever she had gotten into.
The kid was hungry, tired, and looked like fucking shit. [worse than usual, if that’s even possible.] And Sofi was going to figure out why.
“You’re hurt.”
Sofi stated simply, crossing her arms. This wasn’t a question, this was an observation. The just barely healed gashes on her arm did not go unnoticed. They reeked. Carrie in general- reeked.
“And? I always am. I’m- i’m fine. It’s nothing serious, really.”
Sofi slammed her hand on the table with such force that if she was human her hand would have shattered. A thin crack appeared in the marble, but that was the least of Sofi’s concerns. Carrie’s eyes flashed with something one could only call fear. pure. fear.
“Goddammit, Carrie! What is wrong with you? You never tell me anything, and-”
And i feel like i’m failing.
Carrie crossed her arms, nose crinkling slightly in annoyance.
“I don’t have to.”
“Wh- yes you do?! You can’t just- live under my roof and exepct me not to worry about you?!”
Carrie scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“And what are you, my mom?”
And with that, the absolute mess of a girl stormed off, running up the steps and as sofi heard, locking herself in the bathroom.
It was hard to tell what carrie was doing. Sofi’s eyes burned with unshed tears. Her hands gripped into the poor marble countertop as if it was a lifeline. What the fuck sofi, get a grip. She never cries. So why is she doing so over a bratty teenager who- doesn’t even respect her?!
